MarchAbu-Ghazaleh Patronizes the ‘Arab Woman Media Day’ Ceremony: Entitled ‘Digital Media, between Reality and Aspiration’
AMMAN - The Arab Women Media Center has organized a session celebrating the Arab Woman Media Day under the auspices of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), entitled “Digital Media: between Reality and Aspiration. The celebration was greeted by a video recorded message from His Eminence Archbishop Atallah Hanna, head of the Sebastia Diocese of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem, who was invited as guest of honor.
Other important participants of the ceremony, that was organized in cooperation with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF), included representatives of civil society institutions and media professionals from various media outlets.
In his keynote address, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the importance of work carried out by Arab women, particularly the Palestinians, in the media sector in particular, emphasizing the significance of upholding and defending the Palestinian cause in light of all media disinformation and propaganda.
He further highlighted the need for empowering the media women digitally in the knowledge era and the Fourth Industrial Revolution; especially in view of the rapid technological advancements and digital transformation, in order to effectively help stop and prevent media attacks using all sort of traditional and modern tools.
In his recorded speech, Archbishop Hanna expressed his pride in Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh's unrivalled cultural and personal efforts and initiatives in support of the Palestinian cause.
Archbishop Hanna also emphasized the role of Arab media women in Jordan and Palestine in highlighting the justice of the Palestinian cause. He also exposed the fierce Zionist plans regarding Jerusalem, the abolition of its original identity by Judaizing the city, reiterating the protective role of the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and expressing gratitude to His Majesty King Abdullah II continued efforts defending and safeguarding those holy sites.
In her remarks, journalist Mahasen Al-Imam, founder and director of the Arab Women Media Center, talked about the Center's accomplishments since its inception in 2001, as well as the role it plays in supporting media women in Jordan and around the Arab region. She added that the Center, since its establishment, has dedicated a day every year to celebrate media women in honor of their achievements.
The ceremony included a reading session of the ‘Struggle of Palestinian Women’ book that had been recently published by Al-Imam, hosting the Palestinian journalists Ms. Khetam Al Deek and Aya Al-Khateeb.
Meanwhile, the second session entitled ‘Digital Media, between Reality and Aspiration’, hosted Ms. Haya Al Da’ja from Jordan, and the Palestinian Presenters Ms. Najah Mosallam and Ms. Samar Thawabteh who shared their professional experiences in digital media and its effectiveness in the contemporary world.
It is worth mentioning that a host of media women including Janet Seriani Kajo, TV Presenter Lara Tamash, Sawsan Mobaideen, Sahar Al Muhtaseb, Maysoon al Khateeb and Haya Al Da’ja from Jordan, and the Palestinian journalists Khetam Al Deek, Najah Mosallam, Aya Al-Khateeb and Samar Thawabteh, were honored, and honorary shields were presented to the Patron of the ceremony, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, and the participating media women.
