Eighty-year-old Palestinian Refugee Applies for ‘Abu-Ghazaleh’ Master's Scholarship

Eighty-year-old Palestinian Refugee Applies for ‘Abu-Ghazaleh’ Master's Scholarship

AMMAN
- Hassan Al-Azza, an 85-year-old
Palestinian from Souf Palestinian refugee camp in Jerash, has recently enrolled
at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Digital University (TAG-DU); one of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh
Global (TAG.Global) firms, to obtain a Master’s degree. This is based on the
scholarship that was previously announced by HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder
and chairman of TAG.Global, for Palestinians, under occupation and Palestinian
refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.

Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his pride in Mr. Al-Azza’s decision to pursue his
postgraduate studies at TAG-DU, saying, “I consider myself a lifetime student
with constant willingness to learn, even though I am 85 years old, and I am
proud of those persistent learners, even if in their 80s.”

TAG-DU
offers Master’s Degree scholarships accredited by the University digitally in
five programs including: Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology,
Digital Marketing, Intellectual Property, and Supply Chain Management.

Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh affirmed that the scholarships are part of TAG.Global’s corporate
social responsibility program towards the Arab youth in general and the
Palestinians in particular.

He
also expressed his pride in the greatness of the Palestinian people, who have
never been discouraged by displacement or refuge from seeking progress and
pursuing excellence, underlining that such a determined people will prevail and
will never be defeated.

Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh emphasized that TAG.Global’s core support focuses on providing
education for all Palestinians, attributed to the importance of education in
developing and improving the performance of Palestinian institutions, as well
as building a creative Palestinian generation that safeguards its homeland and
history. He went on to note that such digital scholarships would positively
help Palestinians overcome transportation barriers and reduce the cost of
education in distant locations.

For
his part, Mr. Al-Azza expressed his happiness at getting the scholarship
despite his old age, indicating that age is no barrier to learning and success.

It
is worth noting that the recently-announced scholarships are part of Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh’s ongoing initiatives for Palestinians and refugees. Back in 2002,
he offered 50 scholarships to Palestinians in Jenin refugee camp in the West
Bank to obtain a Certified Accountant certificate following Israel’s massacre
in the camp 2002 during the era of Palestine’s late President Mr. Yasser Arafat.

Among
the requirements to get TAG-DU’s
scholarship: the student must have a minimum average of (good GPA and higher)
in the bachelor's degree; lives in the Palestinian occupied territories; or in
Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan, Lebanon, or Syria; and has a certificate
of the national examination of the English language or its equivalent.

 Talal
Abu-Ghazaleh Digital University (TAG-DU), established in 2018, offers a number
of distance-learning programs (Master’s Degree) through the free Massive Open
Online Courses (MOOCs), with the aim to enable a large number of students to
enroll in the best programs offered worldwide.
