MarchAbu-Ghazaleh and Lebanon’s Minister of Education Discuss ‘TAGEPEDIA Digital Learning’ Project
BEIRUT – The Lebanese Minister of
Education and Higher Education, HE Dr. Abbas Al Halabi, has received in his office HE Dr. Talal
Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global),
to discuss the latest developments and challenges the education sector is
experiencing in light of the difficult economic circumstances in Lebanon for
years.
During the meeting, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh
offered a proposal to solve the education problem; not only in Lebanon but
globally. This will be achieved, according to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, through the
launch of the ‘TAGEPEDIA Digital Learning’ project as an integrated and
parallel system to traditional education.
He stressed that such a system will become
the future, sooner or later, noting that
it was developed by experts in learning and technology fields in order to help
fulfill the growing demand for digitally skilled workers and to address digital
learning relevant challenges at all levels.
Moreover, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh affirmed that
the situation in Lebanon in terms of economy and education system is rapidly
changing, adding that the transitional phase requires that the Lebanese keep pace with the developments and changes
of the digital economy, which has experienced a remarkable growth in recent
years and is providing great opportunities.
“Digital learning has many advantages over
traditional learning, including
increased flexibility and ability to access learning materials from all
over the world, as well facilitating access to courses and certificates that
could improve individuals’ professional skills,” Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out.
He also indicated that the success of this
project in Lebanon requires three essential elements to be carried out: digital
software, communication tools and internet line.
“Over the past 50 years, TAG.Global has
successfully developed a number of curricula approved by the Organization and
the Arab Organization for Quality Assurance in Education (AROQA), and is also
able to convert curricula from paper to digital to solve the printing problem
and reduce the country’s expenditures significantly,” Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said.
For his part, Dr. Al Halabi expressed his
pride and appreciation for the cooperation that connects Lebanon with
TAG.Global, pointing out that the Ministry will provide its support in all
educational and cultural fields.
The two parties affirmed the importance of
developing means of cooperation and development of TAG.Global’s businesses for
the benefit of Lebanon and its people.
