JanuaryAbu-Ghazaleh Reveals Challenges Facing Global Economy
CAIRO - Egypt-based Media and
Arts Forum has hosted HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal
Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), in a seminar entitled: ‘Global Challenges and
Egyptian Economy: A Different Vision’, organized in cooperation with El Sadat
Foundation, the Arab Studies Center 2030, and the Egypt State Information
Service.
The seminar, held at the Misr
Public Library in Dokki, was attended by a number of of Egyptian
Parliament members, as well as a host of economic experts and media delegates.
During the seminar, Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh stated that the world is currently experiencing a special period
in history, characterized by the absence of a global leadership. He pointed out
that a country’s supremacy and dominance are based on its power that enables it
to use weapons and impose sanctions.
In the same context, Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh asserted that, “No single state has the authority to individually
impose sanctions on another state. However, in order to protect each state and
prevent it from being harmed, as happened during the war on Ukraine, sanctions
must be enforced by an entity that has the right to do so.”
In addition, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh
emphasized that World War III has already started, expecting that the real war
will erupt from the South China Sea and that the Russian-Ukrainian war is one
of the aspects for forming the New World Order rather than merely a war between
two countries.
He added that America and
Britain are the main drivers in the European decision-making; highlighting the
fact that Britain is currently suffering an economic downturn and will face a
difficult economic situation in comparison with other countries. While
concerning Germany, he went on to add, the choice is difficult because
its economy depends on Russian oil and gas, the prices of which are on the
rise.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh spoke about
the conflicting interests of the Five Security Council permanent member states
affirming that such conflicts, have been compromising the Council’s
ability for making crucial decisions. This creates a world without a
global leadership, and raises the need for a major global event that restores
balance of powers.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also
predicted that there would be no European Union in 10 years, stating that China
and Russia are nations that no one could ever defeat due to their geographic
size.
Regarding the Egyptian
government's handling of the economic crisis, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh indicated that
Egypt could overcome the impact of the global economic crisis thanks to its
wise leadership, noting that other countries did not adopt Egypt's strategy of
focusing on both infrastructure and digital infrastructure to support the
future of the economy.
He went on to say that every
Egyptian citizen should be fully aware of the country's difficult circumstances
and become a real player and partner with the government in bearing
responsibility, emphasizing that youth are the main engine of the economy.
He also noted that the current
century is founded on artificial intelligence, which is the basis of wealth
creation, pointing out that the Egyptians are the first people to innovate
through building the Pyramids - and therefore they would one day lead the world
again.
In conclusion, Dr.
Abu-Ghazaleh said that the Arab students should be innovative, stressing the
need for shifting toward a knowledge-based society, in order to lead the world
as we previousaly did for 300 years.
