SeptemberAbu-Ghazaleh and MP Tony Frangieh Discuss Means of Developing the Digital Sector in Lebanon
BEIRUT – Chairman of the Information
Technology Committee of the Lebanese Parliament, MP Tony Frangieh, received in
his office HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal
Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) and his accompanying delegation to discuss ICT
related issues and means of cooperation in developing the digital sector in
Lebanon.
During the meeting, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh
highlighted the continuous TAG.Global cooperative efforts with the
Lebanese government in fighting digital illiteracy, noting that the
Organization started opening a number of knowledge stations at the Lebanese
University with its several branches across Lebanon in addition to Lebanon's
National Library in Beirut.
He further stressed the importance of
TAG.Global’s Knowledge Stations in raising community awareness, building
capacities and fighting digital illiteracy through various training courses
that will be shortly launched in cooperation with the Lebanese University,
Ministry of Culture and a number of public and private institutions.
For his part, MP Frangieh extended his
thanks and appreciation to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for his efforts in serving Lebanon
and its people, expressing the Committee's readiness to fully cooperate.
MP Frangieh called on Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh to
keep on launching such initiatives by organizing and holding future meetings
for further coordination, especially since the current situation in the country
needs all sincere and concerted efforts for such leading initiatives offered by
TAG.Global to serve the local community.
The meeting was attended by the Chair of
Group Management Board at TAG.Global, Mr. Salah Abu Osbeh, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh
& Co. International (TAGI) Executive Director in Lebanon, Mr. Marwan
Abu-Sahyoun, and Representative of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for Culture and
Media in Lebanon, Mr. Burhan Al Ashkar. That is in addition to the General
Coordinator of the Digital Transformation and Governance Network, Dr. Nadim
Mansouri, MENA EdTech Alliance President, Dr. Rabie Baalbaki, Vice-President of
the Alliance for International Partnerships and Relations Coordinator, Nora
Al-Murabi, and Coordinator of Governance Project between the Transformation
Network Digital Governance and the Chair of the Information Technology
Committee MP Frangieh, Dr. Wadiha Al-Amiouni.
